Find what's holding your web app back.

Two weeks. We find the root causes of the stability, scalability, and security problems holding your product back, and give you a prioritised plan to fix them.

The outcome

In 2 weeks

  • Structured review of codebase, architecture, infrastructure, docs
  • Root-cause analysis of stability, scalability, security issues
  • Prioritised recommendations (quick wins to structural changes)
  • Written report and a walkthrough with your engineers

Why teams come to us

What a health check is good for

  • Unexplained outages or performance regressions that keep coming back
  • Scaling problems you cannot trace to a single cause
  • Security worries before a customer or auditor asks the hard questions
  • Codebase that has become harder and slower to change
  • Cloud or infra bill that's drifting up with no clear lever
  • A new team inheriting a system they did not build

The problem

You can feel something is off. You just can't point at it.

Pages get slow at peak. The deploy that should have been routine took out checkout. The security review came back with a list. Costs are creeping up and nobody can explain why. Each one is fixable on its own, but together they add up to the same uncomfortable feeling: we don't fully understand our own system any more.

Internal teams are too close to it. External auditors give you a checklist, not a plan. What you need is a senior pair of eyes that has shipped this shape of system before, can read the code, walk the architecture, and tell you, in plain language, what the actual root causes are and what to do about them first.

Our approach

Read the code. Walk the system. Trace the root cause. Write it down.

Week one: we read the codebase, walk the architecture with your engineers, inspect the infrastructure (live, not on a slide), and audit the documentation you have. We instrument anything we need to understand the system under load.

Week two: we trace the issues you're seeing back to the architectural and operational decisions driving them, separate symptoms from causes, and write it up. You get a prioritised report (quick wins, structural changes, longer bets) plus a 60-minute walkthrough with your team.

What you get

A clear picture of where you are and what to do next.

Codebase review

Architecture, code quality, dependency health, test coverage, hot spots, technical debt mapped to the problems you actually feel.

Infrastructure review

Hosting, networking, data, deploys, secrets, observability. What's solid, what's brittle, what's invisible.

Root-cause analysis

Each stability, scalability, or security issue traced back to the decision that caused it, so fixes target causes, not symptoms.

Prioritised recommendations

Quick wins you can ship this sprint, structural changes worth planning for, and longer bets to put on the roadmap.

Written report

Yours to keep, share, and act on. Clear enough for engineers to execute against, plain enough for the board to read.

Walkthrough with your team

60-minute working session: we present the findings, take questions, and agree the order of attack.

Is this for you?

See if we're a great fit for you.

For you if

  • You have a live web app, API, or backend in production.
  • You can feel something is off but can't yet articulate the root cause.
  • You want a senior, independent read before committing to a bigger remediation.

Not for you if

  • You're still pre-launch with no production system to review.
  • You already know what's wrong and just need engineers to ship the fix.
  • You want a generic compliance checklist, not a root-cause review.

How we do it

Clear stages. You're in control.

01

Kickoff

30-minute call to align on what's worrying you, what's in and out of scope, and what access we need.

02

Review

Week one: codebase, architecture, infrastructure, documentation. Live, in your repos, with your engineers.

03

Diagnose

Root-cause analysis of the stability, scalability, and security issues, traced back to the decisions driving them.

04

Report and walkthrough

Written report with prioritised fixes, plus a 60-minute working session with your team. You own the output.

After the health check

Fix it with us, or take it to your team

The report is yours. If you want help executing it, we can come back on a Solve engagement, run the DevOps Pathway with your team, or take it on under Care.

FAQ

The questions we get before kickoff.

What's included?

Two weeks of senior engineering time: a structured review of your codebase, architecture, infrastructure, and documentation, root-cause analysis of the stability, scalability, and security problems you are seeing, and a written report with prioritised fixes plus a walkthrough with your team.

Who does the work?

A senior Releaseworks engineer, UK-based, background-checked, with 10+ years shipping and operating production systems. The same engineer runs the review, writes the report, and walks your team through it.

How fast can you start?

Usually within a week. We ring-fence the two weeks on the calendar, run a short kickoff, and have findings landing on your desk by the end of week two.

What do we need to give you?

Read access to the repos, a quick architecture diagram (we can draw one if you don't have one), access to the running system or a staging environment, and 90 minutes total of your engineers' time across the two weeks. That's it.

What happens after?

You own the report. You can fix the issues yourself, hand them to your team, or bring us back to implement, on a Solve engagement, the DevOps Pathway, or ongoing Care. No lock-in either way.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes, as standard. The review is run under NDA and the report is yours to keep.
