Why teams come to us

What problems a Web App Health Check solves

  • Unexplained outages or performance regressions that keep coming back
  • Scaling problems you cannot trace to a single cause
  • Security worries before a customer or auditor asks the hard questions
  • Codebase that has become harder and slower to change
  • Cloud or infra bill that's drifting up with no clear lever
  • A new team inheriting a system they did not build

What you get

What a Web App Health Check includes

Codebase review

Architecture, code quality, dependency health, test coverage, hot spots, technical debt mapped to the problems you actually feel.

Infrastructure review

Hosting, networking, data, deploys, secrets, observability. What's solid, what's brittle, what's invisible.

Root-cause analysis

Each stability, scalability, or security issue traced back to the decision that caused it, so fixes target causes, not symptoms.

Prioritised recommendations

Quick wins you can ship this sprint, structural changes worth planning for, and longer bets to put on the roadmap.

Written report

Yours to keep, share, and act on. Clear enough for engineers to execute against, plain enough for the board to read.

Walkthrough with your team

60-minute working session: we present the findings, take questions, and agree the order of attack.

Is this for you?

See if we're a great fit for you.

For you if

  • You have a live web app, API, or backend in production.
  • You can feel something is off but can't yet articulate the root cause.
  • You want a senior, independent read before committing to a bigger remediation.

Not for you if

  • You're still pre-launch with no production system to review.
  • You already know what's wrong and just need engineers to ship the fix.
  • You want a generic compliance checklist, not a root-cause review.

How we do it

Clear stages. You're in control.

01

Kickoff

30-minute call to align on what's worrying you, what's in and out of scope, and what access we need.

02

Review

Codebase, architecture, infrastructure, documentation. Live, in your repos, with your engineers.

03

Diagnose

Root-cause analysis of the stability, scalability, and security issues, traced back to the decisions driving them.

04

Report and walkthrough

Written report with prioritised fixes, plus a 60-minute working session with your team. You own the output.

After the health check

Fix it with us, or take it to your team

The report is yours. If you want help executing it, we can come back on a Solve engagement, run the DevOps Pathway with your team, or take it on under Care.

Why Releaseworks®

A team you can trust with production.

Senior engineers, based in London

Over 20 years building and running production SaaS and business-critical platforms for global brands across finance, health, and retail.

Full-time, background-checked staff

No subcontractors, no offshore handoffs. The person on the kickoff call is the person writing the code.

Embedded with your team

We work in your repo, your tools, and your standups, so your engineers see every decision and keep the capability after we leave.

Trusted advisors, not vendors

Founders and CTOs keep us on speed-dial long after the engagement ends, because we tell them the truth and stay accountable for outcomes.

FAQ

The questions we get before kickoff.

What's included?

A focused block of senior engineering time, delivered in 3-7 working days: a structured review of your codebase, architecture, infrastructure, and documentation, root-cause analysis of the stability, scalability, and security problems you are seeing, and a written report with prioritised fixes plus a walkthrough with your team.

Who does the work?

A senior Releaseworks engineer, UK-based, background-checked, with 10+ years shipping and operating production systems. The same engineer runs the review, writes the report, and walks your team through it.

How fast can you start?

Usually within a week. We ring-fence the engagement on the calendar, run a short kickoff, and have findings landing on your desk inside 3-7 working days.

What do we need to give you?

Read access to the repos, a quick architecture diagram (we can draw one if you don't have one), access to the running system or a staging environment, and around 90 minutes of your engineers' time in total. That's it.

What happens after?

You own the report. You can fix the issues yourself, hand them to your team, or bring us back to implement, on a Solve engagement, the DevOps Pathway, or ongoing Care. No lock-in either way.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes, as standard. The review is run under NDA and the report is yours to keep.
