Meet the Team: Ben Davie

At Releaseworks, we believe every team member brings a unique blend of expertise, vision, and passion to our collective mission. In the spirit of celebrating these individual contributions, we're kicking off a series of interviews to introduce you to the people behind the work we do. This week, we're excited to spotlight Ben Davie, our latest addition to the cloud engineering team.

Can you share a bit about your background and experience before joining Releaseworks?

Before Releaseworks I was a Software Engineer working on a wide variety of projects. I got my start in tech as a Web Developer before slowly progressing to working in the cloud. As I made this change I completed 3 AWS Certifications, gaining a wider knowledge and understanding of cloud best practices and technologies.

What will be your primary responsibilities as a cloud engineer at Releaseworks?

As a Cloud Engineer at Releaseworks I look forward to working alongside colleagues to provide expert solutions. My primary focus will be on automating processes to improve efficiency, reduce potential errors and ensure a seamless delivery for our clients. Keeping track of the latest innovations in cloud computing will play a crucial part of my role and allow me to provide the best results.

What excites you most about working in DevOps?

In 2024, DevOps should be central to nearly all businesses with an online presence. Therefore, working and specialising in this area has never been more interesting. It enables me to advance my skills and deliver robust, reliable solutions, allowing developers within companies to make exciting and frequent updates to their applications without fearing the deployment process!

What drew you to Releaseworks specifically?

From my first calls with each team member it was clear to me that Releaseworks was a company with a dynamic team that aligned with the direction I wanted my career to progress in. The transparency within Releaseworks even in my first few days has been amazing and nobody is unreachable. I could tell right away there is a vast wealth of knowledge within the team and nobody is afraid to share. This helps myself to learn personally and pushes Releaseworks forward as a company.

Now for some fun questions! What's your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

On the weekends I love to get outdoors as much as possible cycling, running or hiking with my partner and our Golden Retriever, Maple.

Tell us more about more about Maple!

Maple is almost 2, loves to chase every squirrel she can find and dive into all the muddiest puddles!

If you could travel to any place in the world right now, where would you go and why?

Anywhere I can go skiing. But on my bucket list would have to be Alaska! I have watched backcountry skiing videos filmed there since I was a kid and it would be a dream come true to experience that in person.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

It would have to be the ability to time travel. Going back and seeing amazing memories while also having the ability to see the future would be the best superpower for me. It would mean you never forget happy memories and you can predict the future!

Thanks again Ben, and welcome to Releaseworks!
